    First edition of Salt Lake Affordable Art Fair

    Inauguration by Chief Guest Mr Qin Yong, Chinese Consulate

    Kolkata, 2nd March, 2024:  The Salt Lake Affordable Art Fair, being held on 2nd and 3rd March, 2 024 at Aikatan Cultural Centre will be showcasing the vibrant creativity of artists from all over Bengal.

    The fair was inaugurated by chief guest Mr. Qin Yong, Acting Consul General of the People’s Republic of China along with Ms Mallika Chanda, the curator of the event and Founder of Daughtor Art Gallery.

    Mr. Yong’s attendance emphasizes the event’s significance in fostering cultural collaboration and highlighting the universal language of art that transcends borders.

    This spectacular event promises to be a celebration of art accessible to all, featuring over 100 talented artists and displaying more than 2000 captivating artworks. From paintings to sculptures, photography to mixed media, there will be something to captivate every art enthusiast’s imagination. Live pottery sessions will also be conducted to give hands-on experience .

    Mallika Chanda expressed her excitement about the debut edition of the fair, stating, “Our aim with the Saltlake Affordable Art Fair is to make art accessible to everyone, regardless of background or budget. We believe in the power of art to inspire, provoke thought, and bring communities together. This event is a testament to the incredible talent present in our region, and we are thrilled to provide a platform for artists to showcase their work.”

    The event is designed to be accessible to all art enthusiasts, with affordability as a key focus. The highest price point of any artwork will be Rs 20,000/- ensuring that the art fair remains inclusive and provides an opportunity for a wide audience to appreciate and acquire exceptional pieces directly from the artists.

    Prominent artists participating are Satyabrata Karmakar, Nur Ali, Indrajit Narayan, Bappa Bhowmik , Joydev Bala along with renowned sculptors Chandan Bhandari and Shikha Chatterjee.

    Attendees can look forward to a diverse range of artistic styles and mediums, offering a unique opportunity to discover new talents and acquire original artworks at affordable prices.

    The Saltlake Affordable Art Fair promises to be a cultural extravaganza not to be missed, inviting art lovers, collectors, and the general public to immerse themselves in a world of creativity and expression.

    Mallika Chanda is a former corporate professional with two decades of industry experience in IT and Banking.

    As a young child, Mallika was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed the colorful story books with descriptive details of paintings and nature. Growing up, this seed of interest germinated to appreciating arts and eventually led to hwe calling of a promoter of art and artists.

    In 2017,  she started a New age art house called DAUGHTOR  which focuses on contemporary artists.Her  love for  art is the force behind this vision. Daughtor works with a range of artists across all ages , they promote senior artists as well as new and budding and yet undiscovered but extremely talented artists.

    The objective of Daughtor is to discover and promote extremely talented but not necessarily famous artists thereby providing them a platform to showcase their creativity.
