New Delhi, June 25, 2024: The Sheila Bharat Ram Theatre Festival by Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts (SRCPA) which staged a splendid package of five well-known and popular plays came to a close today. A real treat to powerful acting and brilliant direction, these plays treated Delhi theatre lovers with a diverse range of plays each varying in different genre from comic to classics to contemporary to satire, thereby entertaining audience to the fullest.

The plays that were staged in the festival included Girish Karnad’s “Agni aur Barkha”, “Mahabali” by Asghar Wajahat, “Prem Kabootar” by Manav Kaul, Karnad’s famous play “Tughlaq” and concluded with Gulzar’s “2BY2”.

Commenting on the key highlights of the festival, Mr Hemant Bharat Ram, Executive Vice-President of SRCPA remarked “As always, the Theatre Festival forms an integral part of SRCPA culture. Each year we add some new gems in this festival. This year too, our new addition such as Gulzar’s 2BY2 drew huge crowds besides the classics which are immensely watchable. We hope to continue to showcase plays which are a sheer hard work of good acting and powerful direction.”

According to Chinmay Das, SRCPA’s Repertory Chief, “Despite the prevalent heat wave, we had a packed house everyday as these plays are hugely popular. Our artists have put in a lot of hard work and raised the bar in creativity with fine acting. The direction was superb with perfect sound, light and bright costumes which made the characters come alive on stage. We are truly humbled by the audiences’ love who gave us a thumping applause.”
